HG Cletrac?

I went to look at this Cletrac "bull dozer" yesterday, but when I got there the guy didn't know just what it was. It has been welded, cut, toggled, and patched together a few times. I could not find a ID plate on it anywhere so I thought I would give the experts a shot. It does have a PTO and a wheel for a large belt to hook up a thrasher or something, the guy wants about $800.00 bucks for it and says it runs. Any information would be helpfull, thanks.

Hello, I went to look at this old machine yesterday and the guy who ownes it claims it is a cletrac but I don't know much about these old machines. This one looks like it has been pieced together, the hydrolics say JEEP on them. It is a 4 CYL gas job witha PTO and a wheel on it to run a thrasher or something. Any help would be appreciated. The guy wants $800.00 bucks for it, I want to know what it is so I know if I can even get parts for it. Thanks Everyone!

At least I know what forum to post my questions in for this machine. I am not sure if I am going to undertake this project, it would be a tough resto since it has been so cut up. Can you get replacement sheet metal for these or are they rare and used up? This thing has a radiator out of a 1976 pinto, a muffler out of a Ford Fiestiva, hydraulics off of some type of Jeep, and a plow off of who knows what. I love backwoods ingenuity! How powerful is the HG? Thanks for your help!

There might be some salvageable parts in there somewhere. Hard to say without a close look. If you're patient I think you can find a machine that's more complete and original for about the same money.
A lot of the tin is being reproduced. Some items like the hood and gas tank are not, and in good condition are getting rare.

Thanks for the advice. I will keep hunting and see what I can come up with. I am just looking for a project for my son and to complete before I go back to Afghanistan, so I have about a year to pick one up. Lots of time! Thanks again and I look forward to getting advice from all of you when I find the right Cletrac. I attatched a picture of the "track" vehical that I normaly drive, it is a little big but it sure is fun to drive and to shoot ;D

Definitely a 40s HG at the track frame level. Unless your 'thing' is to rebuild from bottom up, I reckon you could get something similar in much better shape for not much more $$$s. If the frame has been cut-up and welded you are looking at taking the whole thing apart just to get started! If you plan to do any work with it that is.
The front blade set-up is commonly seen on early HGs, so that might just be OK (looks like an early Ware or a Daveco).
