I have a 1953 or 1954 OC-3 that I have a question about.  When we bought this crawler it had some broken bolts that hold the final drive to the transmission housing.  I replaced these bolts with studs that are coarse threaded on one end and fine threaded on the other end.  My Dad was using this dozer today and all of the studs had sheared off of it.  Is something out of line that I am missing?  Anyone have any ideas?  Thank you.

Were they Grade 8 bolts  and tight ?

The studs that I put in were Grade 8.  As far as them being tight, I don't know.  I haven't seen the crawler for a little while.  My dad was using it back in the woods pushing up brush.  He just told me about it and we hauled it to the shop around dark last night.  I looked at it when we got it in the shop and thats when I noticed that all of the studs were broken.  I suspect that they probably worked loose and the tracks probably caught on something while spinning and sheared them off.
