Hi all
I have a 58 oc46 that Iam in the process of restoring working on the trans Iam trying to figure out how the main shaft rear bearing gets oil I can see it being splashed from the ring gear but what if its being used with a pto or belt pulley and never moves? Also noticed on the left inner side of the trans case there seams to be a oil trough that appears to do nothing another mystery. Any ideas? Thanks

Just a little more info the book says to install the front and rear bearing with the shielded to the inside of the trans case. Looks like to me the only way the rear bearing can get any oil is around the oil cup between it and the shaft from ring gear side. Thanks

Well die a little deeper digging took out the oil cup ring and there under years of crud found the oil supply hole from the oil trough in gear box side it was completely plugged hope this helps some one else.
