HG Repair in Wisconsin?

Anyone have any suggestions on a shop to work on a "barn" find HG?  The motor turns over and over all it's in pretty decent shape.

Have you tried starting it yourself? I would first try cleaning the points, because if it has been sitting for a while that will be a quick and easy thing to try. I went and looked at a 1941 HG that is for sale, it had been stored in a barn but they could not start it. I got an e-mail a couple of days later and all they did to get it started was filling the pionts

Gazer, Is that the HG near White River ? I e-mailed with them too, and was thinking about going to look at it. How was it ? Is it a good one ? Just don't have the time anymore !!

The tractor that I looked at was a 1941 HG in Hartland Vt. The tractor is in good shape. The frame looks solid and the tracks looked like they were in good condition. The tractor had been stored in a barn or a shed, I would say this tractor had not been abused. The 2 flaws that  I noticed were that the hood had been chopped on both sides and a hinge added so you can flip the sides up and out of the way, the other thing was that it appeared that the rear sprockets had been spliced together near the center of the hole pattern( about 10 inches from the center) in the sprocket.
If  I  buy an HG I know where there is one that I wouldnââ,¬â,,¢t mind having. It belonged to an old Vt.  Farmer, his son inherited it  The old guy stored it in a barn and it is in remarkable shape, all original. The son has it out in the weather and it hasnââ,¬â,,¢t moved an inch in the 2 Ã,½ years he has had it. The word is he wont sell it, and it is obvious that he wonââ,¬â,,¢t take care of it either.

Yup, That sounds like the one. I could tell from the craiglist pictures that it was fairly original looking. Too bad about the other one sitting out. Keep trying !! You going to Orange, MA. this weekend ?

I don't know what side of Wisconsin you are on. . .I bought some OC-3 parts from a guy named Mike in Lake Elmo, MN.  He and his friend Jim worked out of a little shop and were doing work on a variety of tractors for people.  Mike was very knowledgible on HGs, OC-3s, and was working on his own Cletrac BD.  I don't think they are seeking business, but if the project was interesting they might take on your crawler.  Mike used to do some posting on this forum and is probably out there reading this. . .
