I have always been an antique tractor junky, and I have always liked the hg crawlers, well i finally got one. I bought it at an auction and really have no clue what exactly I bought. There is no serial number plate on it. It has a hercules ixk3 engine and an anderson blade. the sheet metal is all home made and the motor is getting water in the oil but I am determined to get it fixed up. The tracks and rollers are in great shape and the blade looks good.
My problem is I know nothing about these and there isnt any (that I have found anyways) published info on these crawlers. I have also found it to be kind of a challenge finding parts. Can anyone help guide me towards any kind of info that may be publish or other wise available on the oliver or cletrac crawlers? I could also use some parts if anyone can help in the department. Thanks in advance Ron Vargo (Jefferson Ga)

My first step was to purchase a HG owners manual and parts book. They have reprints and sometimes you find the original book on Ebay.

When I first got started I spent my lunch time reading all of the posts on this site. There is alot of information that will help you get to know your new toy.It sounds like you have got a real project on your hands. I hope that you got a good deal 8) [/img]

Since this is an HG did you look on the right side of the frame  for the tag? The next thing that you can do is get the casting date from the motor, which is behind the magneto, for that you have to assume that the motor is the original! Can you post a pic ?
