Does anyone know what this is for?

I have two of these

mounted to the drive housings on my '49 HG 68, I think they must have been to mount a plow of some kind. There is also a lever mounted to the right side that must have been to raise & lower the plow shares. If anyone knows for sure I'd be interested in finding out.
