Anyone got a copy of Service Bulletin CL252?
I've been trying to find it for a long time. I haven't tried Floyd County Museum yet though.

It concerns the earliest 1939 HG's that had 5 final drive studs, and either a 67/14 gear teeth count, or a 70/17. I'd like to try and find out what changes were made and when.
The pinion gear at that time only had one bearing and the gear and bearing were held in with a snap ring. The hub casting number was 112759. I read somewhere once that these earliest drive gears had 67 teeth, but I got an original out today with 70 teeth (see pics)

My gramps Howard van Driest was Experimental Engineer at Cletrac and Oliver Corporation. After the plant closed, he and my uncle started an excavating business, initially using Cletrac and Oliver Crawler tractors. Not sure how far they go back into Cleveland history, but I've certainly got some great leaflets from them for Oliver—Cletrac HG equipment: Ware, Anderson, Davis etc. — but I guess that equipment only came out in the late 40's.
I'll talk to them soon and ask that question.

Landis was kind to send me a copy. It actually concerns the brief flirtation with 8 stud HG final drive gears, not the earlier 5 stud hubs that I was looking for. I've just purchased a July 1939 parts manual — maybe that'll tell me.
