Hercules IXB-3 serial # question

i have another question relating to the OC-46 i hauled home.  the IXB-3 serial number is 3652397TC (the plate is still on the engine).  according to the service manual i found, this would probably mean this is not the original engine, as the crawler serial number is 3TG-026.  any idea what this engine came out of and what differences there may have been on it as compared to an original OC-46 engine?

I am trying to  get the reason behind your question. Your crawler should have an IXB engine which you have. Hercules used different blocks of serial numbers at different times. Hercules produced the IX series for over 20 years.

sorry, i should've been clearer.  according to the manual i picked up, the last serial number for the 4 cyl IXB-3 in the OC-46 was somewhere around 2500000.  i don't know if this is true or not, as i'm new to this.

and actually, i think it would be nicer if in fact this is the original engine, just for my own satisfaction.  is there a serial number list somewhere i can check?

Oh boy. I did some research about 10 years ago on the Clark final drives and the Hercules engines. Over 20 manufactures used a Clark built transmission, and this does not include the old Clark truck transmission. The IX series engines were developed before WW-2 and I think they were actually produced for 24 years,

I forgot to mention that Hercules used different blocks of serial numbers for these engines. In other word they did not have a starting number and then continue on. I guess this is one was of stating it. There were also a lot of IXB Military Standard engines made too.

thanks for the info!!!  from what you stated, it looks like this could be the original engine.  i didn't realize the Hercules was used in so many applications for so many years.  i guess i will keep looking for a magneto to covert back to the original setup.
