carburetor question

Hello,

I just installed a new Marvel Schebler carburetor on my freshly rebuild IXK. Fired it up and all worked well. Went to fine tune the carb and found that the IXK will not run at all unless the idle adjusting screw is seated tight. If I back it out at all the engine shuts down. Any ideas or suggestions. The carburetor is brand new!

when you turn the idle mix screw in you are richening the mix . have you checked for vacuum leaks ? does the carb have a high speed mix adjustment ? if so try changing that. have the breather tube connected while adj. carb. are the valves adj. proper?
