hi iv got the chance of what i am told is a ddh cletrac ihavnt seen it yet but im told it has air assist steering can any body tell me any thing about this modle

The D model was made from 1940 to the mid 50's.  Upgraded it became the OC 15 in 1955.  The air steering option came out in the late 40's, parts are shown in my 1951 parts book but not the 47 parts book. It is a 70 Hp tractor. The second D means it is a diesel model with the hercules DRXB engine, the H is for Hileside model which means it is a wide track machine, 61 inches c to c of the tracks rather than 44 inches. I have a 1947 DGH the gas version and an OC 15.  The diesel is a good engine but not easy to find parts for!  Weight of the bare tractor about 14500# plus any attachments like a winch or dozer.  The air steering is a very nice addition!!  finger tip steering.  If the undercarriage is good shape that tractor can do a lot of work. Drawbar pull would be about 11,000 # for an early model and 14,000 # for the later models with the lower speed gears.

hi thanks for the info i will try and hav alook a the tractor on the weekend apprently its fitted with a cable blade and it is supposed to be a runner

There should be an ID plate on the engine side of the firewall that gives the serial number.  The serial number starts with one digit the letter L and four more digits.  That will tell the year it was made.

Hello there, Carl B. from da U.P. here, I have a cletrac DGH with the air assisted steering, I've had minor trouble with one of the valves, and haven't been able to find a replacement. They are way different than anything that I have found on anything else, but they're just O rings inside the bore, so I figure I'll just hone it out with a brake cyl. hone and see what that does. I should have done that when I had the valve apart the first time! It is a nice option though, and the tractor does steer effortlessly, it just allows air to pass from one side of valve to other and slowly applies the brake on that side. Usually a quick working of the control will release and it'll work right for awhile, it seems like after awhile of running it doesn't do it so much. I would say buy if the price is right!! Good luck!!
