Check out these videos from the 150 Years of the Oil Industry parade in Bradford, PA which was held August 22, 2009. The first two links are two different views of the parade, while the third link is to the shooting of a newly-drilled well with a wooden standard rig derrick. This was also on August 22.

Looks like Bob with a propane-fueled BG with rubber pads running down the street, towing a Fordson.

Lots of big oil field engines running on trailers in the parade.

Titusville's parade will be Saturday, August 29, 2009 and is supposed to be three hours long!

Cool stuff, I was born in Bradford but my family moved out west when I was 1 year old so no memory of it. These are the first pictures I've seen of the town.

Here is a video I took last night of the Nitro Show at Drakes Well. It will give you a feel for how it went....

2009 Nitro Show at Drake Well Museum

The Nitro Show at the Drake Well Museum is an outdoor comedy play, roughly based on the use of nitroglycerin to "shoot" (stimulate) oil wells in western Pennsylvania and other oil-producing regions of the mid to late 1800s. The play depicts "Curly" as the moonlighter, an outlaw shooter of oil wells who pursued his work in the dark of the night to avoid paying the high fees to the Roberts Torpedo Company which owned the patents on the process, and the "Pinkerton Detectives" who were always trying to catch Curly in "the act."

The Nitro Show was the culmination of a day of celebration at Drake Well, celebrating the 150th Anniversary of Drake Well and of the Oil Industry.

For more information and stories about the use of nitroglycerin in the oil fields, see http://www.logwell.com/tales/menu/index.html.
