I have a simple minded question. It looks like I don't need to remove the bellhousing to remove the engine, is that right? It looks like I just need to remove the obvious things including the flywheel. There are maybe 6ea 3/8 bolts from the engine to the bellhousing that hold the engine to the bellhousing that must be removed. Will it work to remove these 3/8 bolts instead of the bellhousing?
I don't want to try and get the frame to bellhousing loose, the 5/8" bolts there look like they are rusted in place and I'd like to leave them.

Yes you can remove the engine and leave the bell housing in the frame.  I would make some guide bolts for putting it back in.  Just cut the heads off a couple of longer 3/8 bolts and saw a grove in the end for a screw driver.  Screw them into a couple of bolt holes in the engine to guide it back in.  That way the gasket will stay in place and you will not damage the flywheel seal.
