Well

It has sat in there front yard for about 6+ years.......he "remembers" it was running when he parked it.

I have decided it was time to get it rolling again.

Its a 1951 Hg-42 S/N 58-GA388 with a Anderson hyd Angle blade.

Other then the normal things like draining and cleaning the fuel system, and oils.   As well as checking for leaks.  Does anyone have any advice for getting one of these old treasures running again.

I would like to first get in moving and then attempt the complete restoration.
Thanks

Perhaps we have more than one of the same addictions? I just bought someone else's Grandpa's OC3 and I'm going to do all the same tasks your planning. But not till March 2016. For you I'd say first let the snow melt that put the lawn furniture where it goes for the summer, then switch out all that oil. If the gas really is 6+ years old it's better than what is sold at the pump today. Page 7 and 8 of the Oliver OC3 manual have the instructions and steps to use the tractor in winter or put the tractor up for winter storage. Then there's a paragraph saying to take your machine to the Oliver dealer every winter for "Overhauling" so you won't experience any downtime in the spring when you need it for the fields. Not what yours gets used for is it?

Definitely my first piece of advice would be to treat yourself to a Parts and an Instruction Manual. Final editions, if possible, since you have a real late one there — almost an OC-3  ;)

I like it. I see it has the optional fender birdfeeder. Speaking of fenders weren't that style use on the 31Ga?
