ddh brake linings

I am just getting ready to replace the steering brake linings on one of my ddh cletracs, but in order to order the new linings i have to decide as to what thickness they are, and as they are all well and truly worn, i have no real guide on what thickness to get. i presume the woven linings would be either 5/16" or 3/8" thick when new, but i really should work out which is the right one before laying out the cash..  anyone got any ideas??     thanks,  pete.
