was wondering how to tell and where to look to get the correct ID for this dozer . i'm sure its a cletrac ,it also says Oliver on it .I've worked on it several times but never really ,ordered parts .i think it's a bgs it is a 6 cylinder Hercules jxb ,has heil made blade,the plate inside firewall is off ,so where would casting no# be to read .I inhered it ,my Father passed away .and i was going to get it going again.when i can figure out to get a picture off my phone to post i will. THX  so much friends

It sounds like a BG or BGH (the H meaning "hillside", which is a slightly wider tractor.) Since it says Oliver, there's a good chance that it's a BGS or BGHS. S meaning Studebaker as the engines are Hercules JX series made during the War for Studebaker trucks. After the War, unused engines were sold to Cletrac and installed in the B tractors. Supposedly they are better balanced for higher speed in the trucks.
My gramps Howard van Driest was Experimental Engineer at Cletrac and Oliver Corporation. After the plant closed, he and my uncle started an excavating business, initially using Cletrac and Oliver Crawler tractors.
