Another request for AG6 age

Found almost what I needed on a post made back on 6-12-2003 by John. Very helpful.  But need to find list for serial number to year.  My serial no# is 3x8414 which would make my AG near or in the 50's.  John if you can help me out I sure would appreciate it.

Welcome to the Cletrac Discussion Forum.

Hereââ,¬â,,¢s the info I have about the later model AG-6 serial numbers.  It looks like production was WAY down in the 1950 ââ,¬â€œ 1952 years.

NOTE:  it appears that the starting serial numbers for 1950 and 1951 in this chart have either been reversed or there's some other error - perhaps 1950 started with 3X8342 ?   Does anyone else have info on this?   These are the numbers listed at Yesterday's Tractors.

Based on the chart, Iââ,¬â,,¢d say your AG-6 is a late 1949 model.

Remember all crawlers made in 1953 and 1954 use the same serial number set up as the wheel tractors. The 1953 models start 35, 54 45 in other words just reverse the first two numbers and you will have the years In 1955 the old number set up was used again, but we are near the end of production for that model. Remember the AG-6 came about durring World War 2 because the Goverment would not let Hercules produce any more of the OOC engines for Cletrac. as used in the AG tractors.

I tend to agree with you John D. as the numbers for 50 and 51 seem to be in reverse order.

Where on Yesterday's Tractors did you find this info?  Looked all over for this info. But couldn't find anything on the crawlers.  Found the wheeled units ok, but never did see anything on the crawlers.

Dog gone, I wish I could make out the numbers on the engine. That would help narrow down the time frame as well. But the tag on the engine is all but unreadable.  The son and I where able to get some of the numbers awhile back before the weather turned so cold.   But, wouldn't you know it, I either didn't write them down or missed placed them if I did writer them down.  Really bad memory with the dope the doctors have me on for back problems.

Well will try to get them again when it warms up some.
