Would my 1952 bdh have had a muffler on it? If so what type?

None are listed in the parts book under the exhaust section, However an optional extra length exhaust pipe was available.

My Bd just has a piece of 2.5 inch pipe, 40" rings a bell for the optional longer lenth. Sam

I have some silencers I was told were for orchard model A's how come the orchard model had a silencer?
I live in England, got interested in Cletrac's when I brought an Oliver BD in 2001, I now have an Oliver BD a Cletrac BDH and another BDH for parts and have just brought a 1919 model H. I also have a british built Track Marshall 90.  Always keen to hear from fellow collectors.

Some of the later models had a spherical muffler about halfway up the stack. Maybe about 6 inches long and 6 inches in diameter. I remember our OC-12 loader had this. I'm not sure if it was a standard item or experimental though. I believe it may have had a provision to divert rainwater out and not allow it into the engine.
My gramps Howard van Driest was Experimental Engineer at Cletrac and Oliver Corporation. After the plant closed, he and my uncle started an excavating business, initially using Cletrac and Oliver Crawler tractors.
