I recently acquired a HG with a set up engine. We got it freed up and it runs fine but I can't find the temp gauge. Is there supposed to be one? If not how do you know if it's overheating aside from boiling coolant?I would like to know what the compression is supposed to be. There is nothing in my manual about it. Thanks for any help.  Dave

The HG usually has a guage panel with two guages(amp and oil pressure), the water temp guage was an add on, it was bolted on top of the existing panel with its own little bracket. <P> As far as the compression we usually look for even compression on all cylinders, the best compression we saw on an IX engine was 110 psi, but a lot in the 90 range, maybe somebody else had different results.
