I am looking at a 1947 BGS with a Heil Road Machinery blade.  I know the BGS is about 8,500 pounds but can anyone tell me how much the Heil equipment weighs?  Am considering how to get this machine home and need to make sure the trailer I select can handle the load.  Thanks!

I bought the exact same in a 1949 combination in 1995.  Went and dug out my Kanona Truck Stop ( Kanona, NY) Cat Scale receipt from when I had it hauled home.  Truck went in empty at 38,260 lbs. and back throught with the BG wet at 50,380 =  12,120 lbs.  Soon after I bought a Carco model 24 winch for it from Landis, Z. and that raised it up another 1000 lbs and took quite a bit of the nose heaviness away.  Still have it and am now looking for someone to fabricate a brush blade for some new work I need it for.  Just for info, for the first 100 mile haul from Avoca to Pavilion NY, and then the 210 mile hop from Pavilion to Harrisville NY up in the Adirondack Mts, we avoided a wide load permit (just barely) by angling the blade as far as it would go.  Have fun with your new addition!!!!

Thanks Al!  I had estimated around 12,000 for the whole package so looks like I wasn't too far off.  Probably can't get any more accurate than scale receipts.  I appreciate you going to the trouble to dig that out!
