I found a thermo. At the parts store (chevy small bock) that fit. I tested it in hot water and installed it .Still no joy . Remote therm reads only 100 F  where the temp sensor mounts on the head. That after 1/2 hour running . Anyone ?

Thanks for the reply jack. I rechecked the gauge ,it is definitly working and today it moved off peg a little after an hour of plowing snow . Guess I will replace thermostat.

I noticed that according to the tempgauge the engine was not getting warm .no movement on gauge. This was new .In the past it showed working temp on gauge. I got a new gauge as a remote read themo showed at least 180 on block. I confirmed the new gauge was working by putting it in pot of water on stove . At 200 according to therrmo the gauge was in run zone . But after install new gauge wont come up either . I took out thermostat and confirmed it is closed cold and open around 180.
    So I am stumped . Can anyone tell me what the head should read with remote temp gauge . What happens if engine runs cold to much? Why would it run cold ,if it is.

Having trouble with starting my oc 46 in this cold weather , very sluggish turover . In a fit of desperation the other day I boosted with 12 volts . Turned over much more briskly and started. I know the starter can take 12 v but I am wondering about what else could be  damaged if I continue the practise.

I have an OC-46 with the 3 cyl gas engine. Lately it wont start when warmed up .Let it cool down and it will start. Any ideas what this could be ?

does anyone have an idea what steel was used in oc-4 tracks in the fifteys? I mean something like the astm designation or similar spec.

I got a set of used rebuilt tracks and  sprockets for oc-46 from Zimmermans this winter.Im pleased as punch with how they work.They stay on! The old tracks were very worn.Now the question is what to do with the old tracks.Are they scrap? If so its a darn good grade of it .Any ideas? What about the sprockets?

people are always trying to use something besides oil in the bottom rollers.I wonder why. Of course if grease is used youll not see a lot of leakage .Perhaps it is the paranoia that I always have that the seals are leaking and all the lube is running out before the next lube job.What do people use for a lube interval,and how much lube do you use in terms of pumps of the gun?Ive gone through a 5 gal pail of lube( mineral oil approx 90 wt) in the last year.Not a heavily used OC-46 either.

this is a question for those who have some experience with hauling an oc-46.what kind of rig is adequate? if the axle rating is over 8000 lbs can an average 4wd 1/2 ton handle it?any thoughts appreciated.

thanks jack.I have seen some info on shaft repair sleeves that slip over an old shaft and provide a nice new surface for the seal to run on.These were not specifically for cletrac of course but i wonder if anyone has had experience with something like this. Are they cost effective? Im going to do some looking myself but could use any help I can get.I suspect Ive got severel shafts worn more than 1/32.Can anyone give measurements on what a new one would be from the bottom flat spot to the top?
