HG, OC-3, OC-4 & General / wake up?
March 02, 2019, 12:14:00 PM
just out of curiosity, is there anybody out there or are they all stuck in the ice somewhere? been awful quiet around here lately 8)

definitely not stock, I've never seen that done before. It may have been done to quieten the gears if they are noisy running. I wouldn't worry about it. Just my opinion.

Hi, I too am collecting the parts to do this. I have a transmission, clutch plate and a spare bell housing to chop down. Just need the shaft parts and the time to do it. Pics of your build would be great.

That's weird, they all show up for me, or am I just special?

I think the only issue will be the lower rad hose and water pump, and all the extra power!

it sounds like the friction disc is still stuck to the flywheel, it is not rivetted to the flywheel, it should be a disc with a splined hole in it with friction facings rivetted to both sides, and it is sandwiched between thae pressure plate and the flywheel

there should be a flywheel with a metal face, a double sided friction disc, and a metal faced pressure plate, has your clutch friction disc come apart?

probably, just be sure not to put too much preload on the bearings, you may have to put some shims in behind the bearings

how far down does the nut go in order to hold the gear tight? the washer idea is good

you cant weld spring steel without losing the temper, or "springiness"
try Chris V or Zimmermans for a replacement

Hi Chris, check the governor and magneto drive, something may have broken there, Bob

any engine will fit using a bfh and cutting torch, but it will be easier to use the Hercules IXB3 that was originally used, they are around and were used in a variety of farm and industrial applications
