I looked at a crawler today that had a tag reading Model OC4-3 and a S/N of J9370 And below that it said Davis Tractor Co, Boston , Mass. It looked like an Oliver hood and dash. It had a 3 cylinder diesel engine. No pto or pulley. Just a drawbar on the back and a cylinder mount on the front. Anyone know more about Davis tractor co? Thanks

My gramps Howard van Driest was Experimental Engineer at Cletrac and Oliver Corporation. After the plant closed, he and my uncle started an excavating business, initially using Cletrac and Oliver Crawler tractors. Davis was an Oliver industrial dealer and a fairly good sized one.

So if the Davis tag is not the right on for the serial number, where is the correct tag usually located. It was a good looking and very narrow machine. I would like to know more about it. Could not really take a picture because it was back in a dark building. Thanks
