I have an OC-46 with the 3 cyl gas engine. Lately it wont start when warmed up .Let it cool down and it will start. Any ideas what this could be ?

Have you checked the spark right after you shut it down when hot, or as you are trying to start it while hot?

Take one of the spark plug wires off one of the plugs and attach it to a new (or good used) plug and have someone hold it against the engine block while you try to start the engine. See if there is a spark across the plug's gap. This would be the first step in determining if you have an electrical problem or not. Once this is determined, you can move on to something else.

I've seen coils fail when they are hot. If you don't get a spark, a bad coil might be your problem.
