Is My "Chocked Full of Nuts" OC3 Hood Hacked Up or was this an Oliver Design?

Guys

See attached Picture. See how nice and straight the right side of the hood is cut out with a tab at the back and a hole at the front and back to attach the (currently missing >:( ) hood section. Anyone ever seen this "Cut Out" design?
Also I noted that when the OC3 was re-painted the hood cut out was painted leaving the new lighter yellow color missing on the tab at the back. The seller is looking for it in all the sheds on the property where it was parked. Brings me to the major problem, will I find any others?

And here's how to get the nuts out of the bell housing.

My IXB engine has two 1 & 1/2 inch holes in the top of the bell housing. One each at 11:00 and 1:00 o'clock. That's how it got its name. Mice or chipmunks have filled the bell housing with acorns. Here's how I got them out. I inserted a vacuum hose and (then with the fuel off) I rolled the engine by squeezing the fan belt tight and using the fan blades to roll the engine like a manual start crank. The clutch housing works like the buckets on a water wheel scooping up acorns from the lower area of the housing, rotating them up to the 11:o'clock position where the vacuum removed them as they went by around and around.

Yes, I've seen a few with that hood cut-out but no-one has ever been able to tell me why it was created. If it was for an OC-3 it needed to be on the other side to get at the oil filler, regulator and spark plugs.

That's exactly the same as mine, and very professionally made cut an spot welding, so it looks like the cut was done by someone adding an attachment or by Oliver?

Blake.......? (Sorry to here of your loss, hang in there)

Where is that OC3 located? Do you have that cut out piece from the one pictured, so I can copy it?

So you can see on that OC3 the cut out was gone when it was last painted. Mine WAS installed (ergo the rust) the last time mine was painted. Do you have your hood cut out piece/part?

They come already cut-out. I've never seen a fill-in part...I've seen plenty of "hack jobs" but this is a factory job, for sure. I've seen a few, as I mentioned. I'll do a bit more digging...

The OC3 you sent the picture of above, what was it configured with? A loader, cultivators, or an Anderson blade? Something else?

I saw your grille on eBay.

If my OC3 has a Ware-Loader-Grille on it, (I call it the 100 Hole Grille) and an Anderson blade, do you think the grille was installed with the blade or when my OC3 it had the ware loader installed on it?

It's a Ware grille so yes, it came with the loader, or was just fitted afterwards as a purchase from someone/somewhere. They are the best factory grilles you can get for an OC-3, I'd say. The 3HI grille protects the pump well enough but is not a lot of help with strong sharp radiator-hating sticks!
The ones that Anderson made were almost louvred in appearance. I'll dig out a photo...

Going back to that hood cut-out, apparently it was just supplied like that to give better access to the engine, especially the plugs.

Thanks for the grille picture, and the button head oil fittings (you sold me on e-bay) I'm calling it the 100 hole grille. LOL  ;D. Somewhere there's a pile of those cutouts. Lol
