is there any way to install rubber pads on an oc-3?

I mean bolt rubber to the tracks so you dont tear up asphalt if you have to drive across it for a short distanc.

If you only occassionally drive over asphalt for a short distance, you could put down some old boards or planks.

People that move crawlers around here and even little bit bigger ones like D-8's just throw old tires down, drive the crawler across, put the tires in the pick up for the next move.

what we want to do is use the loader to help erect a garage on a paved driveway.depending on the cost of the pads,we may just lay down plywood.But it could be convenient to have rubber pads if I hired out to do work for other people.

I called Zimmerman's last year to price out a set.  It was around $400.00 for one complete set (I think that includes mounting hardware).  A bit pricey for a one time use in my opinion (good investment for parade use).  I was thinking of trying to use that new composite deck planking for this purpose (rather than wood that would splinter and chew-up quite easily from pivoting on paved ground).  Does anyone have any experience or opinions about using this coposite decking?
