The guy that i'm buying the dozer from said he couldn't find and identification plates on the unit. I rode down and it only took me about five minutes to find both the vin. plate for the dozer and the blade. I don't think he even looked. The dozer was labled,

Model OC4-42-IND
Vin     2TG-784

I couldn't make out the third character in the vin until I got home and started looking up numbers. I thought maybe it was an "8" or "9". But when I looked it up I found it had to be a "G". It has an Aderson blade. I found out it's a '57 model. I was curious though. If "IND" is industrial were all dozers maked as such?

It probably does mean "Industrial".
My gramps Howard van Driest was Experimental Engineer at Cletrac and Oliver Corporation. After the plant closed, he and my uncle started an excavating business, initially using Cletrac and Oliver Crawler tractors. Well I figured it ment industrial. My question was were all dozers marked this way or was it a specialty thing?
