OK, I finally found a 1953 OC-3 for a decent price that of course needs a little work. It needs a grill. I was quoted $80.00 from Zimmermans for their reproduction. I have also located a "mint" original that may be for sale. The question is "what are these original grills usually valued at" ?

A perfect original grille will bring around $200.00 .

I too am looking for that mint original grill, I keep following raibows that lead me to just a darn old bucket of gold and no OC3 grills. Is there much difference between a repo and an original? Hotratz were you live? My brother lives up the middle fork road, Valley camp.

I'm in negotiations with the owner of the grill right now. Doesn't look like he's going to get off of it for anything less than $250 maybe more. He also have a very good HG grill for sale.

The difference in the original grills and the reproductions that are offered are that the horizontal slots in the originals have the edges of the slot rolled back inward. The reproductions are just punched flat.

Dave, Your brother's in North Bend? I live at the end of Mt. Si Rd.  My place looks down on the middle fork. (not in a dis-respectful way)

In the first sentence you said they are the same and in the second you said they are different. Could you elaborate?

I think what he's saying is that before Oliver bought Cletrac the  HG grill had the narrow middle.

I can find out what he wants for the HG grill when I talk to him again.

The Oliver/Cletrac HG {green HG's} and OC3 crawlers are the same. The Cletrac HG {orange HG} has a smaller solid center strip. They will interchange but you can not put the decal in the center of the grille.

Well my last offer was $240 plus shipping . He said he wanted to keep it   But said he'll hunt down another one that isn't so pristien. I think he'll sell the Cletrac grill tho'. (narrow center) I'll email him if you're interested and see, From what I remember it wasn't perfect but pretty darn nice.

Correct me if I am wrong, but I believe the latter grills (with the wide vertical center) do not have the small hole in the center face to hang the wire to hold the crank handle in place (while not being used).  Most likely, because the latter models were mostly manufactured with electric start as standard equipment.
