If you have a reverser and the short shaft ,it uses Ford model A u-joints.

yes  i have the reverser .im not sure i want to try finding model A parts .i would if i had to.  can one rebuild one of these. do they have bearings like a modern u-joint. mine  is pretty beat up, hard to tell what it looked like.not like the picture in my parts manual  which shows a double yoke arrangement. perhaps i have an early model.

Mod. A joints should be pretty easy to find. I'm sure there is still some after market support for them. I just saw one for sale on ebay last week.

Here's one that's up for bit right now Model A U-joint

Here's Another one

thanks for your input but im still unsure .the mo A u-joints on e-bay dont really look like mine which has 2 cross journals as opposed to one in the mo A  pictures.I conclude that the oliver joint has bushings not needle bearings.I cant for the life of me get the snap rings out intact and all the ends are very worn .there really doesnt seem to be any accomodation for lubrication .how do they lube just squirt on the oil?

They did not have needle bearings nor a way to grease the joint .I dont know why they were not greaseable .

thanks  Walter
Im slowly getting a picture here. Further to the Mo-A u-joint,when you say it fits the oc-4 with a travel reverser,do you mean that it is the same over all length and that the splines fit?

You will have to use your yokes . Only the ujoint is the same. This joint was also used on the early oliver/cletrac HG .

walter,
By u-joint do you mean the cross journal ,as it is called in my parts manual? If so  wouldnt i need 2 Mo-A joints as i think there is only 1 cross in the mo-a joint?

Yes , you will need two u-joints. Each joint will come with one cross, four caps and four locks.
