Dozer blade out of a snow plow?

I have 6' plow and was wondering if it would be a good basis for a dozer blade for my OC-46. The curve seems right but the plow looks thin. I thought boxing it up might work. Anybody done something like this before? Any plans or thoughts?
Thanks, Eric

I think your machine would overpower a snow blade.  It all depends on how you would use it.  Pushing loose gravel to surface a driveway (or plowing snow!) would be okay, but I think it wouldn't stand up to moving unplowed dirt without a lot of reinforcement.  Even the cutting blade on a snowplow is a lot lighter than a dozer's.  I bet this group could point you to some sources for a used dozer blade setup that would fit your machine.

Thanks John, that's kinda what I figured. I wouldn't mind spending the money on a used dozer blade if I could find one. There's a guy out west somewhere... maybe Oregon who was/is selling a "46" with a dozer blade so I figure somebody made one. I've looked everywhere I could think of and came up with nothing. My "46 is going to wind up north of here where we're building a cabin and I wouldn't mind adapting the snow plow with hydro turn to plow snow (long driveway). Anybody got a lead on a used dozer blade? Other wise, it might be a build as I go with the snow plow.
I guess I could buy that OC-4 that's for sale not far from here :)

My OC-3 loader has a tendency to slide sideways on ice. My driveway is kinda steep and trying to push snow banks back turned into a scary experience. Now I use a chained up Jeep.

The road I'd plow with the crawler is pretty flat so ice wouldn't be an issue. I can imagine it isn't much fun sliding sideways down a hill on a dozer :)

I've only plowed snow a couple of times with mine, and know they can be real slippery on ice, so I was really careful on my driveway, which is only flat by the house, and that is at the midway point on the hill.

Since I am out east, I couldn't help you with a blade.  Good luck Eric!

Thanks John,
Yesterdays tractors has a hauling schedule, kinda neat, for guys looking to get tractors or parts from different parts of the country. Keep me in mind if you do happen to run into anything.
Thanks again, Eric

Eric, There are also sites like U-Ship (kinda like an ebay for shipping services) which you can use to get bids on shipping something (especially heavy items like DOZERS!!) from one point to another reasonably.  Truckers who have an empty truck on a return trip are glad to pick up some cash rather than have an unpaid run.

I'm planning to fabricate a Snow Plow blade for my OC4 to push dirt over a very steep hill.  Ive been using the bucket to lift and drop, but with a full bucket even with both counter weights its scary at the edge of the hill, too much weight forward.  I'm looking for a Plow blade now.  I plan on leaving the Bucket on to strengthen and support the blade. I'll post The finished Photo when I'm done.

Sounds interesting, I'd be interested in your design and photos.
