Need to replace the bearing on the input shaft on my oc3. Is there a manual I can buy, that tells you how to take it apart. Seems like all the work has to be done from the front as the tranny does not come out like in my tractors Thanks Ed

Yes, Manuals are available on ebay or from Zimmermans. It shouldn't be to difficult to replace that bearing once you pull the drive shaft out. There are three bolts holding the bearing retainer onto the front of the transmission. Remove the retainer and you should be able to get the bearing out by prying or the use of an internal bearing puller/slide hammer.

I have to replace the rear bearing, the one at the back of the transmission.  The input shaft just slid out, no snap rings were found.  How do we access the inside of the transmission?  Can you get to it by the shift lever?  thanks ED

Unfortunately you have to pull the trans out of the crawler and access the internals through the cover on the side. That means the tracks, track frames, final drives, etc. etc will have to come off to get the trans out. I just went through this on my OC-46. You might get an idea by looking at my project pictures. I would get an operators manual also. It's a big job and there are a few things you need to pay close attention to. It's going to be easier on an HG or an OC-3. Not as much stuff to remove

We took the shift lever side cover off and found a lot of pieces. Took the gears out and cleaned out the junk will let it drain for a couple days Will have to contact Zimmerman next week as we will need parts. Espicially a manual. Don't see why we can't put the shaft back without taking the rear end out. Seemslike if we took it out of the side we should be able to rebuild it from there. It was the top shaft. will keep ypu posted. Thanks for the help Ed
