Starter OC-3

I have problems with my starter it wonÃ,´t
spinn under load, if i have it on the bench
it spinns good ,I have a new 6V battery

i have used jump cables directly from the
battery to the starter to eliminate problems with the cable and the switch

it turns about a 1/4 turn and stops when it going into compression i have even tried
with a 12V battery but itÃ,´s the same

the engine turns around easy when i crank it by hand and starts easy so its not
that the engine is stuck

I have take the starter to a work shop
he has tested it with instruments but
he canÃ,´t either finde the problem

the bushings are in good shape so it wont
bend and make a wire shortcut

Im out of ideas is there someone else hwo
had the same problem.

I do know that the design of the starter was changed from a starter with a 2 pole design to a 4 pole design durring the days of the OC-3
Can you place a voltmeter and an Ampmeter on the tractor and get readings at the starter?

When the starter turns under load the voltage goes from 6V to about 4,5V
what sould the voltage be

Is it some internal problem whit the wiring??

Check your field coils, they may be shorted . Also your armature should be tested. You can check for grounds, but to check completely you'll need a growler

I have found what the problem is with the
starter.

When the starter starts and engage toward the starter the gear pulls to far to
the flywheel gears that it stucks.

I did put shims between the starter house and the gear and now it runs great.

Thats why the man at the workshop didnt
finde any problem with the wiring.
