I found a usable Hercules in a Minnie Mo BF.  The owner said that the "SL" stood for sleeves.  Does this engine have sleeves?  Wet sleeves?  It has a distributor too.

Personally I have never heard of an IXB with sleeves, but they could have been made. There's a BF Avery club out there and their experts should know. Good luck.
My gramps Howard van Driest was Experimental Engineer at Cletrac and Oliver Corporation. After the plant closed, he and my uncle started an excavating business, initially using Cletrac and Oliver Crawler tractors. The IXB SL is an engine with dry sleeves. To my knowledge The Avery T and the later BF (its decendent) used the sleeves.
Most likely the engine will also have a small hydraulic pump too.
