OC 46 4 cylinder

I have a 1958 OC 46 with the 4 cylinder IXB 3 engine.  I also have a 1963 OC 46 3G parts machine with the Slo-Low auxillary transmission.  I would like to install this auxillary trans in the 1958 machine.  All the info I can find does not show the auxillary trans available for the earlier machine.  Has any one done this conversion and if so what changes were necessary? I know the 3 cyl had a twin disc clutch and the 4 cyl has a single disc clutch.  I do not have them all apart yet to see if the splines on the clutch disc's are the same.

Just a quick question, though. What are you doing with the rest of the parts machine? I am looking for a few minor parts. Things like the steering brake locks. Not the pieces on the levers, the pieces on the floor boards. Also a track idler support.

Are you going to be selling any parts?

Hey Robert. I have been looking for an OC46 for a while. I have an offer in on an IXB3 gas version, but everyone I have spoken to has told me to wait for a diesel to come up or failing that a later, 3 cylinder gas model.
I am wondering why, therefore, you are using and saving the older gas one and not the diesel - of the two machines?

A friend of mine had an OC 46 with the IXB-3 engine and it was a good machine.  The 3 cylinder gas and diesel models have a more heavy duty engine , but the horse power output is the same.  Sure I would like to have a 3 cyl diesel but they are not that easy to find.  As it happens I have a very good IXB-3 engine which I will put in the 1957 OC 46 because it is the most complete machine and in the best condition of the machines I have.   These little machines will do a lot of work for their size.  The biggest drawback with them is the single speed reverse.  It is a bit fast if you are digging a hole and have to back up a steep grade with a full bucket.  The slow -low transmission will take care of that problem!  The IXB-3 engine is easier to get parts for and cheaper to rebuild than the 3 cyl engines, so I would not pass on a good machine just because of the engine.
