OC-3 transmission oil leak

'52 OC-3, short frame with u-bolt re-enforcing around the final drives. Anderson 2-cylinder dozer blade and sod pan fitted.

The leak appears to be from the plate holding the shift lever against the transmission. Hard to see in there with all that steel around!

Has anybody run into this? And do I have to take the transmission out to repair it?

If you are lucky,, you might have a gasket leak where the shifter bolts to the trans., but in my experience, I don't see that much. Are you sure it's leaking right there?  From the top you can see that shift housing pretty well,,,, is it loose? missing any bolts?

I have seen the bottom corner of that housing cracked off on one or two. If you need to remove that cover, yes, you'll need to move the transmission, as bottom two bolts are impossible to reach, either swinging trans housing up or removing it altogether. So at the least you'll have to take off axle housings and track supports
