It would be a big help if you can identify the engine.
A lot of fork lifts used Continental engines and you maybe able to find some leads there also it is quiet possible NAPA would have what you need.
Is there an ID on the starter?
What is wrong with the starter--  maybe it can be rebuilt.

I don't know much about the engine it has on the side E 15 T   on the head it has a 2 over a W over 7-19-43 and as far as the starter some one reworked an outboard starter motor and put it on it  I get that fixed  but I would still like to put the right starter there since I don't trust it and since I'm fixing it up to resale I'd like to make it right if I can

I saw your post over at YT---I'm starting (no pun intended ;) ) to understand your problem.

Sorry I can't help but maybe someone will be able to ID it from the information.

Is there any way you can post a picture of this thing?
It sounds like and HG but pictures would really help.

I like challenges like this. Continental made many series of four cylinders. When you say the distributor is between Number 2 & 3 cylinder, does that mean it is on top of the head? This would start to indicate a F model Continental. However mi\ost casting numbers would start F 400 and then another letter followed by numbers. Many of them have the model and the serial number stamped in the left front corner of the block.
Next dumb question, are you sure you have a Cletrac and not a Terratrack which did use a Continental and also has a Clark final drive. If your crawler is a World War 2 vintage machine this is posssiable.
Let me know as I am home this week. John

Try to find some more ID tags on the tractor itself. There's got to be some someplace. Any printing on the background of the gauges? Any other clues?

Get some detailed pictures to us. Send them snail mail to me if you wish.

Look for some ID that is not on the engine, transmission, or rearend.
