Axle housing welded to tranny

I'm a new member.  Great site.  I bought this crawler last fall.  It's mostly complete, just missing the usual sheet metal panels, etc...  It ran poorly, but after minor tuning, I believe the engine to be fairly strong.  The drive system seems to work great, at least w/o any load on it.  I am hoping to fix it up for the Albany, MN Pioneer days in Sept. '04 as they are featuring Oliver tractors.

My RHS axle housing has at some time (prior to my purchase) been welded to the transmission housing.  It looks as though the studs had broken (some were replaced with bolts), so they welded it.  This junction leaks bad, and cannot be tightened.  I would like to grind the weld off, disassemble and repair properly.  Do I need to completely disassemble the track on that side, or can I simply disconnect the front torque tube and slide the whole RHS track assembly off to the side?

PS.  I got a parts unit with the sale.  HG-68, Serial #276A944.  I have a main frame, axle housings, free turning engine, tansmission, and tracks.  
My tracks seem O.K.  Although there is only about 1" of travel to the end of the rail.  I don't know if I should keep the parts for spares or offer them to someone who needs them more than me.  I thought about listing some of these parts on your link, but I don't know what they're worth.  Any tips?

I was wondering if you would sell the main frame.  I have an OC-3 with a broken one.  A good frame last year on ebay brought around $200.  That would be fine with me.

My spare frame is not perfect.  It's the older style that "hooks" to the tranny versus the later style with plates betwee the tranny and axle housings.  The ears are bent some, and I believe there were some other repairs done as well, I don't recall.  I will try to get hold of a digital camera and post some pics of my crawler, and my spare parts soon.  
I hope this is appropriate to do as I read that items for sale should be listed on cletrac.org.  I checked this out and it seems like mainly a local PA site.

Axle housing update- From my manuals I believe that I can simply pull the housing off the transmission w/o complete disassembly of the drive.  I got all the bolts out, and started grinding weld off.  I took the back cover off the tranny and found a crack in the tranny housing that runs from the rear toward the center of the axle.  I haven't gotten the axle housing off yet to determine the extent of the damage.  Hopefully my spare trans. housing will swap if needed.  More later.
